Hong Kong Mulls Movie-Theme Park

HONG KONG -- A study commissioned by the Hong Kong Tourist Association recommended construction of a 62-acre theme park focusing on international movies and television shows.

According to the Tsing Yi-Ma Wan Film City and Associated Tourism Development Study, the park would be located in Hong Kong's Ma Wan area and include a 1,000-room, film-industry-themed hotel complex with convention facilities on Tsing Yi island. The tourist authority said the project, called Film City, would aid the extension of the Tsing Yi-Ma Wan tourism corridor to the northeast part of Lantau Island. If approved, the project could be completed early in the next century.
