Hotel Caters to Business Travelers

JACKSONVILLE -- The 167-room Club Hotel by Doubletree in Jacksonville, a product for the mid-market business traveler, has been well received since it opened last year, according to Doug McCorkle, director of brand management for Club Hotels by Doubletree, based in Phoenix.

In February, for example, McCorkle said the hotel had a 72% occupancy figure and an average nightly rate of $76.

The Club Hotel features a 5,000-square-foot Club Room that contains a business center, conference rooms, small offices and a cafe.

The Club Hotel targets the mid-market traveler who takes 12 to 20 trips a year and typically stays two nights per visit.

McCorkle said Doubletree plans to open a second Club Hotel near Miami Airport in mid-year and is looking at the Tampa market as a future location.
