Hotel Cipriani extends honeymoon package

NEW YORK -- Where better to celebrate a honeymoon or anniversary than a favorite old haunt of the famously amorous Casanova himself?

The Hotel Cipriani, an Orient-Express Hotels property in Venice, Italy, is offering a new honeymoon package priced at $3,350 per couple for stays now through Nov. 2. Travel agent commission is 8% on all packages.

The 91-room Cipriani, along with the adjoining Palazzo Vendramin -- which offers private apartments and butler service -- and Palazzetto Nani-Barbaro, is set on the entrance of Venice's Grand Canal to St. Mark's Square.

The notorious 18th century traveler, author and gigolo Giacomo Casanova reputedly once fell in love in what are now the hotel's gardens.

The honeymoon deal includes three nights' accommodations in a junior suite, a champagne breakfast in-room or on its terrace, a welcome basket of fruit and flowers and one hour of tennis per day, plus full use of the Cipriani's health facilities.

One daily lunch or dinner for two in any of the hotel's restaurants also is included in the package rate. Eateries at the hotel -- opened in 1958 by Italian restaurateur Giuseppe Cipriani -- include the Cipriani, Cip's Club, Il Gabbiano Grill Bar and a poolside restaurant.

An extra night's stay, with American breakfast the following morning, is available for $1,170 per couple.
