Hotel Mont Vernon to reopen

BAIE ORIENTALE, St. Martin -- Following a $1 million refurbishment and "general sprucing up" of Hotel Mont Vernon, the property will reopen here on Dec. 6.

Despite the recent terrorist activities, the property is "committed to open as planned in order to welcome our American guests after the terrible events," said Chris Aubanel, director of sales in North America.

The former Blue Bay Club is under new management and is in the process of retraining its staff.

When Hotel Mont Vernon reopens on Dec. 6, it will sport a refurbished pool deck adding room for water sports. When the resort reopens, it will sport a new reception area and beachfront bar; a redesigned main restaurant and pool area, and the addition of more than 2,700 trees, plants and flowers to the landscaping.

All suites will have a fresh Caribbean color scheme, new air conditioning and renovated bathrooms.

Amenities at the hotel include the Ti Case kids club, open weekdays for children ages 4 to 12; two restaurants and two bars, and a selection of sports equipment.

Through Dec. 20, opening rates range from $125 to $215, while rates from Jan. 4 through Feb. 3 and April 1 through Dec. 19, 2002, range from $155 to $350.

From Dec. 21 through Jan. 3, rates are from $200 to $400; from Feb. 4 through March 31, rates range from $170 to $380.

All prices are per suite, double, and include full American breakfast buffet.
