ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada -- Hotel room inventory in Grenada will total
almost 2,000 rooms by year's end, according to officials at the
Grenada Board of Tourism.
Three properties will expand their present facilities, and a new
hotel is planned for Grand Anse Beach.
Spice Island Beach Resort will close from May 15 to Nov. 1 in
order to add 10 new suites, bringing its room count to 66.
The project also includes rebuilding the resort's entrance,
reception area, dining room and bar.
Renovations also are planned for 22 suites as well as the
resort's swimming pool, Jacuzzi and therapeutic massage pool.
The Gems Holiday Beach Resort on Morne Rouge will add a 50-room
annex, a restaurant, a beach bar, a tennis court and a swimming
pool by the end of the year.
The 186-room Grenada Grand Beach Resort will add 50 more rooms
by early next year.
Already completed under a refurbishment and expansion project
are a miniature golf course; a conference center; a pool, and an
upgrade of the lobby, guest rooms and restaurant.
A 104-room hotel on the Grand Anse site of the former Silver
Sands Hotel is planned for later this year.
