Hotel stays added to port stopovers

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Formerly the Russian ship Alexandr Pushkin, the Marco Polo was built in 1966 and completely refurbished by Orient Lines in 1991 to 1992 at a cost of $78 million.

It features 12 suites, each measuring 484 square feet.

The Scandinavia & Russia itinerary is priced from $1,995 per person, double.

There are eight scheduled departures between June and August: June 1, 10 and 28; July 7, 19 and 28, and Aug. 9 and 18.

Air add-ons are available from a rate of $595 roundtrip.

A kosher cruise is available on June 28.

The Marco Polo alternates the Scandinavia & Russia sailings with four Fjords & Fairytales Norwegian fjord cruises, sailing May 25, July 12, Aug. 4 and 23.

These itineraries combine a two-night hotel stay in Copenhagen with a seven-day cruise and are priced from $1,995 per person, double.

Fjords & Fairytales explores the Geirangerfjord, described as Norway's most scenic, and Sognefjord, said to be the world's longest.

It also visits Norway, spending five hours in Bergen and six hours in Oslo.

The Grand Scandinavian itinerary is a back-to-back combination of the Scandinavia & Russia and Fjords & Fairytales cruise-tours, priced from $3,250 per person, double. It combines a 14-day cruise with a two-night stay at a Copenhagen hotel.

The Grand Scandinavian departs May 25; July 7, 12 and 28, and Aug. 2 and 18.

For the Scandinavia & Russia and Fjords & Fairytales cruise-tours, category C oceanview rooms are priced from $3,350. For the Grand Scandinavian, C rooms are priced from $5,795.

A 10% advance-purchase discount is provided for bookings made 120 days or more prior to sailing. Commission ranges from 10% to 15%, based on agency volume.
