Hotel worker recovering after bear attack

A hotel worker mauled by a bear last week at the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge is recovering, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

The 21-year-old housekeeper reportedly was bitten several times and initially was hospitalized in a critical care unit.

The newspaper reported that the worker was attacked "just yards from the lodge," upon bending down to look at flowers after a hike.

It was expected that she may require multiple surgeries, including for a broken jaw, and skin grafts.
