IGTO sessions qualify as continuing-education programs

NEW YORK -- Seminars sponsored by the Israel Government Tourist Office in the U.S. qualify for professional certification programs, according to the Israel Ministry of Tourism here.

The Institute of Certified Travel Agents announced that IGTO seminars qualify as a continuing-education programs for certified travel agents and certified travel counselors.

Participants attending an Israel travel agents' seminar earn one-and-a-half continuing education units (CEUs) out of the total of 10 that are required to maintain certified status.

The IGTO seminars are offered throughout the year. In addition, agents can earn seven CEUs by participating in the Israel course of the Travel Agent University on line at www.tauniv.com.

Graduates of the on-line course receive a diploma from the Israel Ministry of Tourism and a listing as a certified Israel travel counselor on the Web site, special offers from program co-sponsors and sales leads generated by the ministry's InfoCenter.
