Starting Dec. 26, Northwest Airlines will
launch daily nonstop service between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Between Dec. 26 and Jan. 5, the flights will be operated with
100-seat DC-9 aircraft; starting Jan. 6, with 148-seat Airbus 320
The flights will be timed to connect to the carrier's nonstop
service between Los Angeles and Tokyo's Narita airport, with
continuing service to Bangkok; Beijing; Pusan, South Korea; Hong
Kong; Manila, the Philippines; Nagoya, Japan; Seoul, South Korea;
Shanghai; Singapore, and Taipei, Taiwan.
The carrier, which also launched daily nonstop service from
Milwaukee to Las Vegas in July, will add a second nonstop flight on
that route from Feb. 12 through April 30.
The new service will use Airbus A319/320 aircraft, which can
accommodate 148 people and 124 people, respectively.

America West Airlines added service from its
Las Vegas hub to St. Louis on Oct. 26 and will add service from Las
Vegas to Billings, Mont., and Des Moines, Iowa, on Nov. 26 and Dec.
Flights to and from St. Louis use the 737-300, which can
accommodate 134 passengers, while the Billings service will be
provided by America West Express and operated by a subsidiary
airline of Mesa Air Group using the 50-seat Canadair Regional
Las Vegas-Des Moines service also will be provided by America
West Express and operated by Mesa Air group using the new 80-seat
Canadair Regional Jet.
