Inclusive island resorts augment value with special-rate deals

NEW YORK -- A number of inclusive hotels and resort chains have rolled out programs that boost the value of their one-price-for-all policies.

The following is a sample:

  • Jamaica's Issa Hotels and Resorts introduced an early-booking program at Couples Ocho Rios, Couples Negril and Swept Away resorts, all in Jamaica.
  • Crystal Cove is participating in the Elegant Hotels Group's shared privileges program. The Year 2000 Early Booking Discount includes three booking deadlines and more than $1,000 off the cost of a week's vacation for two. The discounts apply for travel from Jan. 1 to Dec. 22, 2000.

Travelers who book by Sept. 23, 1999, get more than $1,000 off the cost of a seven-night stay for two at Couples Ocho Rios and Couples Negril and more than $800 off the cost of a seven-night vacation at Swept Away.

Clients who book by Nov. 24, 1999, save more than $800 on a seven-night stay for two at Couples Ocho Rios and Couples Negril and $700 off a stay at Swept Away.

Those who book by Jan. 26 save more than $500 per couple on a seven-night stay at all three resorts.

  • SuperClubs offers a Fly Free promotion at its eight Jamaica hotels for couples who originate from or connect through one of eight U.S. gateways -- New York (Kennedy and La Guardia), Newark, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta, Chicago and Charlotte, N.C.
  • Under the program, couples who book air and accommodations through SuperClubs' toll-free number -- (800) 467-8737 -- receive an air credit ranging in value from $430 to $570.

The offer applies to couples who book at least six nights at any of the Jamaica SuperClubs. Solo travelers are entitled to 50% of the air credit's value. The offer is based on the lowest midweek air fare on a scheduled carrier and can be used toward typically higher weekend fares. Charter flights are not included in the promotion. To qualify, clients must fly between Sept. 1 and Feb. 5 (excluding Dec. 17 through Jan. 1).

Clients can choose from the following Jamaica resorts: Grand Lido Negril; Grand Lido Sans Souci in Ocho Rios; Grand Lido Braco in Trelawny; Breezes Golf and Beach Resort in Runaway Bay; Breezes Montego Bay; Hedonism II Negril; Hedonism III Runaway Bay, and Boscobel Beach near Ocho Rios.

  • The Elegant Hotels Group in Barbados introduced a reciprocal privileges program at its five hotels. The Elegant Experience allows clients to choose from 12 restaurants and a variety of land and water sports available at the Colony Club, Crystal Cove, Coconut Creek, Tamarind Cove and Turtle Beach.
  • Guests staying at one of the group's inclusive hotels (Turtle Beach, Crystal Cove and Coconut Creek) receive dining vouchers for the two EP hotels (Tamarind Cove and Colony Club).

Meanwhile, guests staying a minimum of five nights at one of the three inclusive hotels get one free champagne breakfast for two on their balcony or patio through Dec. 18.

Nightly rates at the Elegant Hotels start at $119 per person, double, at the Tamarind Cove, and rise to $228 at the Turtle Beach through Oct. 6.
