Inn at Old Bahama delays debut

WEST END, Grand Bahama Island -- Old Bahama Bay Resort pushed back the opening date of its boutique hotel.

The 47-suite Inn at Old Bahama now is scheduled to open Jan. 1.

The gated resort community on Grand Bahama Island has the hotel, a 200-slip marina and 73 private homes.

The inn originally had been set to debut in October.

Currently, 72 slips are open at the marina, and the home sites are up for sale.

When the Inn at Old Bahama finally makes its debut, it will feature a pool, a waterfront cafe, tennis courts, a fitness center and a host of land and water activities.

The 550-square-foot suites are furnished in a Bahamian-Colonial decor of mahogany wood and textured leather.

Suites are equipped with a refrigerator, a wet bar, a microwave, a CD player, modem lines for computer hook-ups, a cable TV and a coffeemaker.

Some of the outdoor options available include five miles of nature paths for walking or bicycling (rentals are available); scuba and snorkeling, as well as nonmotorized water sports.

Through April 30, opening rates range from $250 to $295 per night, double.
