Inter-Continental to open two properties

LONDON--Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts is opening two properties in the Holy Land, a hotel in the country's commercial center and a desert resort near the Red Sea.

The 550-room David Inter-Continental Tel Aviv, due to open this year, is at the southern end of the seaside promenade that stretches along the city's Mediterranean beach. The location is near the country's commercial hub and the city's entertainment center.

The hotel's rooms will face an atrium; most will have a view of the sea, and many will have a balcony. The property will have convention and banquet facilities and a business center. The hotel also will have a shopping arcade, a health club and an outdoor pool and will operate a diving club and windsurfing center on the Mediterranean beach in front of the hotel. Dining venues will include a sushi bar, an Italian restaurant, a pool bar, a lobby lounge and a sports pub.

By 2000, the chain's Eilat property is expected to open in the Negev, two miles north of the Red Sea beach/desert vacation city. The Eilat Inter-Continental Resort will have 280 rooms and 280 apartments plus a championship golf course. The desert resort also will have conference and banquet facilities and a health club.
