LONDON--Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts is opening two
properties in the Holy Land, a hotel in the country's commercial
center and a desert resort near the Red Sea.
The 550-room David Inter-Continental Tel Aviv, due to open this
year, is at the southern end of the seaside promenade that
stretches along the city's Mediterranean beach. The location is
near the country's commercial hub and the city's entertainment
The hotel's rooms will face an atrium; most will have a view of
the sea, and many will have a balcony. The property will have
convention and banquet facilities and a business center. The hotel
also will have a shopping arcade, a health club and an outdoor pool
and will operate a diving club and windsurfing center on the
Mediterranean beach in front of the hotel. Dining venues will
include a sushi bar, an Italian restaurant, a pool bar, a lobby
lounge and a sports pub.
By 2000, the chain's Eilat property is expected to open in the
Negev, two miles north of the Red Sea beach/desert vacation city.
The Eilat Inter-Continental Resort will have 280 rooms and 280
apartments plus a championship golf course. The desert resort also
will have conference and banquet facilities and a health club.
