LAS VEGAS -- A new property located in the mountains outside Las Vegas is courting travelers desiring the utmost in pampering and privacy as well as agents looking to boost commissions.

The four-suite Chateau Spaulding, which debuted in January, offers agents a 20% commission on rates.

The Mediterranean-style lodging house boasts amenities and services fit for royalty, according to proprietor Diana Wiczek-Spaulding, who also goes by the name Lady Di.

"We have a passion for excellence," Wiczek-Spaulding said. "We offer discriminating people the finest in life without scrimping on anything."

At Chateau Spaulding, "the finest" includes European-trained butlers, on-call chauffered limousine service, Ralph Lauren robes and Waterford crystal, for example.

Wiczek-Spaulding and her husband conceived the idea for Chateau Spaulding after staying at chateaus and castles throughout Europe.

They built the Chateau Spaulding on two acres atop Sunrise Mountain, approximately 15 minutes by car from the Strip.

"We both decided Las Vegas needed something special, something different," Wiczek-Spaulding said.

"Here, you have the best of both worlds. It's private and quiet, yet close to the city."

The property was designed to be a romantic retreat that calls to mind a time when guests were treated like kings and queens by employees skilled in the art of personal service, Wiczek-Spaulding said.

"We want to create a bit of Europe, a bit of the Gatsby Era É in a five-star environment that makes for a memorable trip," she added.

Attention to detail and personalized service are cornerstones of the experience, Wiczek-Spaulding said.

Arriving guests are greeted by a formally attired butler, who will escort them to their suite and cater to their needs throughout the visit.

The property features four spacious themed suites to suit a variety of tastes.

The Great Gatsby Suite is the largest of the four units, measuring 1,200 square feet. It was designed to capture the opulent era of the 1920s as depicted in the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel of the same name.

Features include a private patio and balcony, a private dining chamber, a fireplace, a Jacuzzi, his and her showers and a sunken marble bath for two.

Other choices include the Las Vegas Suite, the Mountain Suite and the Ritz Suite.

All of the suites offer views of the mountains and valley.

Guests receive gourmet breakfast served in their suite or in one of the public areas, and high tea or hors d'oeuvres and cocktails are offered in the afternoon during the Gatsby Gala reception.

Although Chateau Spaulding does not have a restaurant, Wiczek-Spaulding said catered gourmet dinners can be arranged and served by candlelight in guests' suites or in the property's formal dining room.

Public areas at Chateau Spaulding include a Grand Room with a lounge area, a fireplace and a balcony as well as the Great Room, where the Gatsby Gala receptions are held.

Chateau Spaulding also features patio areas and lush landscaped grounds where guests can relax, Wiczek-Spaulding said.

She added that the property will have an outdoor pool in the future.

For diversions, guests can tour nearby Las Vegas in a white stretch limousine or a white Rolls-Royce.

Arrangements also can be made for daytime activities such as tennis, golf, horseback riding, hiking, bicycling and sightseeing.

Chateau Spaulding has a yacht on Lake Mead, which is available for tours and parties.

Full-service weddings also can be arranged at the property, she said, and the hotel provides a perfect setting for a corporate retreat.

Reservations can be made for individual suites as well as for the entire house.

Suite rates range from $250 to $595 per night.

The rates include the services of a full-time butler, gourmet breakfast and the Gatsby Gala afternoon reception. A picnic basket for two also is included when guests stay three nights.

An additional fee is charged for limousine service, excursions and catered meals.

Nightly rates for the entire chateau range from $1,995 to $2,950, including full-time butler service, gourmet breakfast and the Gatsby Gala afternoon reception for up to 10 people.

All rates are commissionable to agents at 20%.
