Intrav slates Africa safari tours through fall

ST. LOUIS -- With departure dates scheduled through the early fall, it's not too late to book a safari adventure through Intrav, a deluxe tour operator based here.

Intrav offers four inclusive packages that range from 10 to 14 nights. Rates begin at $5,390, double, and increase to $7,920.

The Kenya Wildlife Safari, an 10-night trip with departures on Aug. 9, Sept. 11 and 25, and Oct. 2 and 11, features safaris in Sweetwaters Private Game Reserve, Samburu National Reserve, Mount Kenya National Park and the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Guests can ride horses, fish for trout, go on night safaris or tour parts of the reserves via hot-air balloon.

The two-week Wings Over Kalahari safari begins with a four-night stay in Cape Town, South Africa, followed by a three-night stay at Etosha National Park in Namibia.

Participants will helicopter near Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and cruise the Zambezi River. The trip concludes with a two-night stay at Chobe National Park in Botswana.

Departures for the safari are Sept. 19 and 26 and Oct. 10 and 17.

With departures on Sept. 2, 9, 16, and 23 and Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28, the 14-night Wings Over the Okavango explores much of the same territory as the Wings Over Kalahari tour.

Featured on the trip is a cruise on Xakanaxa Lagoon, a two-night stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel and a performance of African tribal dancing.

The 12-night Wings Over Kilimanjaro journeys through the national game parks of Tanzania and Kenya.

Excursions include visits to Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongo Crater, Amboseli National Park and Masai Mara National Reserve.

Passengers also have the option of a fishing trip on Lake Victoria and a hot-air balloon safari over Masai Mara.

Departures for the Wings Over Kilimanjaro are Sept. 7 and 21 and Oct. 5 and 16.
