Ireland welcomes ASTA fact-finding group

DUBLIN, Ireland -- A 13-member ASTA delegation led by the Society's executive vice president, Bill Maloney, arrived here April 23 on a four-day fact-finding trip sponsored by the Irish Tourist Board.

To dispel misconceptions about hoof-and-mouth disease, the tourist board announced that singer Bono of the rock group U2 will be promoting tourism to Ireland during a U.S concert tour starting this week.

Actor Martin Sheen will appear on cable TV ads telling viewers that Ireland remains open to tourism.
