Islands highlight cuisine at annual showcase event

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Taste of the Caribbean 2000, the annual food and beverage showcase of contemporary island cuisine, is set for Nov. 2 to 5 at Broward County Convention Center here.

National teams, representing Caribbean Culinary Federation members from 16 islands, will vie for gold, silver and bronze medals and for top honors as the Caribbean culinary team of the year.

In a new category this year, the top 20 private teams, composed of chefs and waiters from hotels, restaurants, catering companies and Caribbean professional associations, will compete for medals and individual honors.

The registration package, priced at $300 per person, covers seminars, workshops, cooking demonstrations, the trade show, one lunch or dinner and the awards banquet on Nov. 5.
