JAL extends 'Executive Plus' plan

NEW YORK -- Reacting to demand, Japan Airlines extended its package for business travelers, JAL Executive Plus, through March.

The offer was scheduled to end this spring.

In addition, some of the package's participating hotels have upped their discounts by as much as 75%.

Under the Executive Plus program, clients purchase a regular-fare, roundtrip JAL ticket from one of the airline's Western Hemisphere gateway cities to Japan, in either first class or business class, and book one of 34 participating hotels in seven cities in Japan for up to four nights.

In return, the hotel offers a significant discount off its published rate as well as perks such as late checkout, an upgrade to a higher-category room and a free in-room fax machine.

Clients also receive airport transfers in a private limousine and are allowed to check additional bags -- two extra in first class for a maximum of four and one extra in business class for a three-bag maximum.

The participating hotels are located in the cities of Tokyo, Narita, Yokohama, Kawasaki, Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka.

Rates range from approximately $40 per night at the Hotel Nikko Narita Winds to approximately $157 at the Westin Tokyo. Taxes and service charges are extra.
