JNTO debuts 'Explore Japan' campaign

NEW YORK -- The Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO) kicked off its $2 million "Explore Japan" campaign on March 15.

It includes consumer and trade print advertising, a sweepstakes that awards 10 free trips for two to Japan, a revamped Web site, new brochures and fam trips.

The campaign's major component is a sweepstakes for 10 free nine-day escorted trips to Japan worth up to $4,800 for two people who visit Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka. The sweepstakes can be entered by filling out a coupon that accompanies the newspaper ads, by postcard or on the Web site, www.japansweepstakes.com.

Sweepstakes entries must be postmarked by April 10 and received by April 15. Winners will be selected by April 29. The JNTO said it expects about 50,000 entries.

Meanwhile, the JNTO said it will unveil a revamped version of its www.japantravelinfo.com Web site by March 31.
