NEW YORK -- Jamaica Spice, a festival celebrating the island's
history, is scheduled for July 25 and 26 at UDC/Jamaica Grande Park
in Ocho Rios.
Jamaica Spice will link the culture of Jamaica under the central
theme of food, according to the Jamaica Tourist Board and the
Jamaica Cultural Development Commission.
Traditional Jamaican favorites will be served, including jerk
pork, fish and bammy, jackass corn and more. A book signing with
Jamaican culinary writers and a professional cooking competition
also are scheduled.
Dance, music and displays of food art as well as children's
activities are on tap. The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission
is planning a gala dinner for a later date. The festival gates will
