Jamaica resorts set reopening dates

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica -- Sandals Inn in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Beaches Sandy Bay Resort in Negril, Jamaica, which are closed temporarily for several weeks for renovations and upgrades, will reopen in October.

Sandals Inn resumes operations on Oct. 31, and the Beaches resort will be ready for business Oct. 14.

Meanwhile, welcome news from the Enchanted Garden resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, is that the property, which has been closed since last December, could reopen as early as next spring.

American Leisure Holdings, based in Saddle Brook, N.J., plans to acquire the 129-room resort this fall.

The property's 20-acre botanical garden with 14 waterfalls has remained open for tour groups.

Expansion plans include the purchase of an adjacent 14 acres and the construction of up to 150 new units.
