Jazz festival adds days

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -- The eighth annual Barbados Jazz Festival, scheduled for Jan. 8 to 14 here, is expanding from five to seven days, offering more time for visitors to take in the sights and sounds.

A schedule of performances follows:

  • Oleta Adams is opening the festival Jan. 8.
  • Dan Siegel plays the Sunbury Plantation House on Jan. 9.
  • Jeffrey Osborne performs Jan. 10.
  • David Benoit will play a dinner set at the Royal Westmoreland on Jan. 11.
  • David Koz is scheduled to perform at Heritage Park on Jan. 12.
  • Chaka Khan will close the festival on Jan. 14 at Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
  • Tickets for individual events are priced from $25 to $100. Season tickets cost $155, not including the dinner set at Royal Westmoreland, which costs $100. Tickets can be purchased by e-mailing [email protected] surf.com or by visiting the Jazz Festival Web site at www.barbadosjazzfestival.com.
