Jazz music to entertain Bermuda's visitors

HAMILTON, Bermuda -- The seventh annual Bermuda Jazz Festival, set for Sept. 4 to 7 at the Royal Naval Dockyard here, will be two days longer than last year's event because of additional performers.

The festival will feature on Sept. 4, Jazz on the Beach, with Gerald Albright; Sept. 5, Marcus Johnson, Bobby Lyle, Abgela Bofill, Bobbi Humphrey, Natalie Reiter, Jimmy Sommers and local artists.

On Sept. 6, performers are Miamim Makeba, Herbie Hancock, Roy Ayers and Tempo. On Sept. 7, the performers are George Duke, India.Arie, Dianne Reeves, Shine Hayward and Friends.

The Bank of Bermuda is a sponsor of the performances which cost $50 for general admission and $70 for reserved seating.

At press time, air and hotel packages including the jazz festival were still in the planning stage.

Also, this year's festival has a different producer -- BET Event Productions, a division of the Viacom subsidiary Black Entertainment Television..
