KAPAA -- Kayak Kauai Outbound introduced a six-night adventure
tour of Kauai.
The move is likely the first by a Hawaii-based adventure firm to
package wilderness hikes and ocean activities with
Called the Kauai Discovery Tour and offered weekly, it features
six nights of beachfront accommodations, daily activities, meals
and airport transfers.
It begins on Saturday afternoons with van pickup at Lihue
Airport and ends the following Friday. The first three nights are
at the Wilcox Estate, which has a historical main house and cottage
units, at Hanalei on the north shore.
The last three nights are at Waimea Plantation Cottages,
operated by Aston Hotels & Resorts, at Waimea on the south

* A full day's Sunday hike along the Na Pali coast on the north
* On Mondays, river kayaking, followed by a tour of the Kilauea
National Wildlife Refuge, Hawaii's best-known seabird sanctuary,
then snorkeling at Anini Beach.
* On Tuesdays, the Wailua River, with a combination kayak and

Clients have a range of options, including a helicopter tour,
scuba and game fishing, which can be purchased at the net price
paid by the company.
"We've combined an adventure tour with comfortable
accommodations," Godnez said of the company's first venture into
packaging tours with accommodations.
The Discovery Tour costs $1,350 per person, double or single,
Kayak Kauai also offers a number of commissionable day
Prices start at $55 for its Blue Lagoon package, which includes
a three-hour guided kayak tour of the Hanalei National Wildlife
Refuge and snorkeling.
The most expensive option is sea kayaking, for $130.
The company, with locations at Kapaa and Hanalei, also rents
gear for hiking and camping, bikes, kayaks, canoes, snorkel and
other activity equipment.
