LARKSPUR, Calif. -- Avalon Travel offers the Kauai Millennium
Celebration, a six-day program, Dec. 28 through Jan. 2. Inner
Voyages and New Age Publishing are cosponsors of the event, which
takes place at Kauai Sunspree Resort.
The program will include a New Year's Eve dinner, workshop
presentations by Hawaii elders and healing practitioners, small
group sessions and nightly entertainment.
Tours also will be offered, including trips to ancient heiau
(temples) and a Hindu monastery, a beach excursion and a hike
through Waimea Canyon.
Speakers will include Kahu Abraham, a Hawaiian spiritual
practitioner; authors Shakti Gawain and Alan Cohen, and
anthropologist Hank Wesselman.
Prices start at $1,999 per person, double, with a garden- view
room at Kauai Sunspree for five nights, most meals, all programs
and entertainment, plus a choice of one land excursion. Family
rates are available.
Avalon Travel will pay a commission/referral fee of $150 per
paying adult ($50 when other accommodations are booked).
New York-based Inner Voyages develops cruises and conferences;
New Age Publishing, based in Watertown, Mass., produces the
magazine New Age: The Journal of Holistic Living.
Karol Avalon, Avalon Travel president, said Kauai, like Sedona,
Ariz., is a very spiritual place. Avalon said she has been offering
Sedona cultural and educational tours for three years and plans to
develop more Kauai programs, including plans for small groups. Two
hundred people have registered for the millennium celebration, and
400 are expected to participate, Avalon said.
Also planned is the Kauaifest for October 2000, a similar but
expanded program using several hotels over a 12-day period with a
choice of dates and options.
