Aiming to decrease its carbon footprint, Kenai Fjords Tours will introduce a second hydrofoil-supported catamaran to its fleet this month.
The first of the new catamarans, the Aialik Voyager, was introduced in May 2007.
According to the company, which offers 12 cruise tours daily out of Seward aboard its 12-ship fleet, the 82-foot, 150-passenger vessels provide a 44% fuel savings over its other ships.
The company said it plans to replace more of its ships with the more fuel-efficient catamarans.
