Little Dix Bay to welcome spa, villas into fold

VIRGIN GORDA, British Virgin Islands -- The new Spa at Little Dix Bay, set on a cliff overlooking the ocean, will herald the arrival of the peak season in the Caribbean.

The spa's Dec. 15 debut will coincide with the opening of the resort's two residential-style beachfront villas, both situated on the west end of Little Dix's crescent beach.

Spa director Karen Shawn, formerly with Four Season Hotels & Resorts, said the spa will feature healing techniques originally used by the native Caribe Indians combined with modern therapeutic practices.

The treatment menu at the Spa at Little Dix Bay, set to open Dec. 15, will feature Caribe Indian healing techniques and natural ingredients in combination with modern therapeutic practices. Spa treatments will utilize natural ingredients from Virgin Gorda and nearby islands, Shawn said.

Individualized treatment cottages, with patios overlooking the sea, will house facial massage and wet treatment rooms and will flank facilities including a relaxation patio, a plunge pool and a meditation pool in tropical garden settings.

The free-standing Spa Suite will be used for private, half- or full-day spa treatments such as massages for two and specialized therapy treatments.

Exercise options include water sports, three hiking trails, seven tennis courts and a fitness center.

A four-night Spa Sojourn package for two featuring daily breakfast and dinner, transfers from Tortola's airport, a yoga session and a daily spa treatment, is priced from $3,600 to $8,600 from Jan. 3 to March 31; $2,900 to $5,400 in April and again from Nov. 15 to Dec. 19, 2003; and $2,500 from May 1 through Nov. 14.

Rates are based on double occupancy and are priced according to room categories; rates do not include taxes, service charges and tips.

Little Dix's two-bedroom and three-bedroom stand-alone waterfront villas feature a customized, wrought-iron entrance; oversized rooms; dining pavilions, barbecue areas and outdoor garden showers. Each villa has its own pool.

Nightly rates for a two-bedroom villa, which can accommodate up to four guests, range from $2,500 from Jan. 3 through March 31; $1,700 in April and Nov. 15 to Dec. 19, 2003; and $1,300 from May 1 through Nov. 14, 2003.

Three-bedroom rates, for up to six people, are $3,600, $2,500 and $1,800, per night, respectively, and do not include tax and service charges.
