Lodge group offers customized Inside Passage trips

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Alaska's Inside Passage Resorts, a collection of lodges, resorts and yacht charter operators, offers agents the opportunity to customize off-the-beaten-path vacations for their clients.

The organization, whose marketing headquarters are here, has packages starting at $1,865 per person, double, for a three-night stay at the Waterfall Resort, near Ketchikan.

That price includes a scenic float-plane ride from Ketchikan, accommodations in the resort's main building or one of its cottages, all meals, and fishing from the deck of a comfortable cabin cruiser for salmon, halibut, snapper or ling cod.

A guide, all fishing tackle, bait and other equipment are included, as are cleaning, vacuum packing and freezing of the day's catch.

Another of the resorts, Yes Bay Lodge, on the Cleveland Peninsula, also near Ketchikan, offers a spring special between May 25 and June 10 -- four nights for $1,970 per person, double.

A variety of other programs are available at Inside Passage Resorts' Boardwalk Wilderness Lodge and Whales Resort, both on the eastern shore of Prince of Wales Island.

Another participant in the group is the Great Alaska Adventure Lodge, on the Kenai Peninsula.

This year, Inside Passage Resorts is making available a private yacht (accommodating six people) for $24,900 for a six-night charter out of Ketchikan, Sitka or Juneau.

A 2000 rates directory and brochures from each property, all independently owned, are available. Call (800) 350-3474.
