LAS VEGAS -- MGM Mirage signed a tentative agreement with Culinary
Workers Union Local 226 on May 27 that, if ratified by the union
membership, will avert a strike threatened after the expiration of
the current labor contract May 31.
Union leaders expressed confidence the rank and file membership
will approve the agreement.
MGM Mirage was the latest of the major Las Vegas hotel companies
to come to an agreement with the union. Mandalay Resort Group
signed an agreement May 26; Park Place Entertainment, Harrah's and
Tropicana signed late last week.
Still remainingare the properties of Boyd Gaming Corp.,
including Stardust and Sam's Town, and various other hotels owned
by smaller companies.
