LAS VEGAS -- More than 100 check-ins a day are being registered at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino's new satellite facility at Las Vegas' McCarran Airport, said to be the first facility of its type at any U.S. airport.

"The reaction has been that it's wonderful, a real added value," said a spokeswoman for MGM, which opened the check-in facility in late April.

Guests of the MGM Grand can check in/register and receive their room keys while they wait for their luggage at the new, 500-square-foot facility.

Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

Other services at the airport registration facility include restaurant reservations and the chance to buy show tickets for either MGM Grand shows or New York-New York Hotel Casino events and shows.

MGM is also offering luggage transfer and shuttle service from the airport to either the hotel or New York-New York for an additional charge.

A spokeswoman for the airport said Park Place is also building a check-in facility at McCarran that could be completed in September. Guests will be able to check into five Park Place-owned hotels -- the Las Vegas Hilton, the Flamingo Hilton, Bally's, Paris and Caesars Palace.

The spokeswoman said the airport is the first in the U. S. to offer the check-in service.

"Based on the success of MGM's experience, it's very likely other hotels will want to do the same thing," said the airport spokeswoman.
