MARINELAND, Fla. -- Marineland continues to accept educational
groups, although it was forced to close its doors to the general
public Nov. 9 because of financial problems.
The foundation running the park is seeking additional financing,
a spokesman said.
Jacoby Development of Atlanta, a shopping center developer,
earlier this year acquired a hotel (the Inn at Marineland), a
restaurant and a marina, all outside the park, but it has no
financial interest in the park itself, a spokesman said.
Jacoby's holdings are in the community surrounding the park,
which is also called Marineland. Jacoby does not intend to invest
in the attraction, a spokesman said.
Of the 124 rooms at the Inn at Marineland, only 24 are in
operation. These units rent for $64 or $84 per night, depending on
the guest's arrival date. Jacoby has not decided what to do with
the other 100 rooms.
