Marrakech offers desert camel trek

EL CERRITO, Calif. -- A three-day camel trek through the desert is a highlight of Mountain Travel-Sobek's two-week Marrakech Express tour, with departures scheduled Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.

At a land cost of $2,990 per person, double, and limited to no more than 15 participants, the tour includes travel to several of Morocco's Royal Cities.

The operator gives this tour a rating of four on its scale of one to five, indicating that participants should expect moderate-to-strenuous hiking.

Your clients can also expect to spend some time getting bounced around in jeeps.

The tour starts in Marrakech with local sightseeing during a two-night stay and proceeds over the mountains to Ourzazate and along the Draa Valley to Zagora.

From there, clients are taken to a desert spot called Foum el Maharch to team up with their camels and local guides for the three-day desert trek that winds up at Erfoud.

Following the Sahara experience, the tour continues on with visits to the cities of Fez, Meknes and Rabat.
