LAS VEGAS -- Marriott International will increase its presence in the Las Vegas market with the construction of a 225-room Residence Inn at Hughes Center, a 120-acre master-planned business park being developed by the Howard Hughes Corp.

The property, which will be the firm's second Residence Inn here, will be an 11-story nongaming hotel situated on Hughes Center Drive at the corner of Paradise and Flamingo roads.

As with all of Marriott's Residence Inn properties, the Hughes Center project will target extended-stay hotel guests.

The property will be designed to meet the needs of all types of business travelers and break from Marriott's prototypical design by incorporating a residential, home-like ambience.

Three types of suites will be offered: studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

All suites will feature a fully equipped kitchen with full-size appliances, a coffeemaker, a microwave oven and a living room.

Facilities will include three meeting rooms totaling approximately 1,500 square feet, a 336-square-foot fitness room and a lotus-shaped swimming pool with adjacent cabanas.

The property also will feature a large gathering area in the lobby, where complimentary continental breakfast will be served daily.

Marriott is expected to break ground soon on the Residence Inn at Hughes Center; the hotel is slated to open by the end of this year.

Marriott's Residence Inn chain features a lineup of more than 220 properties in 42 U.S. states as well as in Canada and Mexico.
