Marriott resort to complete $5.8M renovation

LIHUE, Hawaii -- The Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club is scheduled to finish a $5.8 million room renovation to rooms and hotel hallways on April 15.

The renovation started late last November.

Also at the hotel, the Alexander Day Spa and Salon is expanding and should debut its new facilities around the second week in May, according to hotel manager Doug Chang.

The spa features one massage room and an area for hair and nail treatments. When the Kauai Marriott in Lihue completes its renovation of rooms and hallways April 15, each room will have received new beds, drapes, fixtures and carpeting. After the expansion, it will have three new rooms for facials and massages, one steam and sauna room with aromatherapy, one room for different kinds of hydrotherapy treatments and a bridal room where brides can have their makeup done before the wedding ceremony.

After the room renovation is complete, the 345 rooms and 11 suites will feature tropical floral designs. Each room will receive new beds, drapes, fixtures and carpeting.

The hotel also added an Internet workstation for business travelers. It's located in the fitness center, and rates are $5 per half-hour of use.

Rack rates available through Jan. 1 are $270 per night for a gardenview room, $325 per night for a pool-partial oceanview room, $370 a night for oceanview rooms and $649 a night for the suites.

Guest rooms each have an in-room safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, in-room movies and cable television, and telephones with dataports and voice mail.

Located on the water at Kalapaki Beach, the resort contains four restaurants, a health club and a giant, 26,000-square-foot pool.

For corporations and organizations, the hotel features 10 meeting rooms totaling 21,500 square feet.

Other facilities at the hotel include a hair salon and barber, a gift shop, tennis courts and two 18-hole golf courses near the property -- the Kiele Course and the Mokihana Course.

There also is an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub. Snorkeling, water skiing, sailing and jogging are among activities available to guests as well.
