CANCUN -- Marriott is planning to open its second Cancun property
in June 2000. The resort, currently under construction on a
beachfront stretch of land next to its sister property, Marriott
CasaMagna Cancun, will carry the luxury JW flag, intended to
distinguish top-drawer facilities, amenities and services.
JW Marriott Cancun will feature 450 guest rooms, including 45
suites, and a variety of facilities and activities. A centerpiece
will be a 20,000-square-foot spa offering massage services, body
scrubs, healing water baths and facials, among other
The property also will have a swimming pool, a water sports
center, a health club, a sauna, and an indoor lap pool, as well as
a children's club and a game room for families.
Dining options will include an upscale Italian restaurant, a
casual venue and a poolside bar and grill.
The property will be equipped for groups, with 18,000 square
feet of meeting space and a business center.
JW Marriott Cancun will be part of Marriott's Offshore Resorts
network, which includes Marriott's other two Mexican beach resort
properties -- CasaMagna Marriott Resort Cancun and CasaMagna
Marriott Resort Puerto Vallarta -- as well as a number of other
properties throughout the Caribbean.
Sales and marketing efforts for JW Marriott Cancun will be
handled through Marriott's Offshore Resorts sales office in
Marriott operates one other property under the JW brand in
Mexico -- JW Marriott Mexico City. The company's Mexico portfolio
