Mazatlan hotels offer study site

Mazatlan's hoteliers have teamed to launch a free, online destination-specialist training program for travel agents called Mazatlan Mazters.

Sponsored by the Mazatlan Hotel Association, the program features interactive study courses; a dedicated, toll-free support hot line; educational credits; and, coming in 2009, Camaron Credits, a reward program in which participants earn points for each Mazatlan booking.

This educational portion of the program includes an interactive study course at www.mazatlan-mazters.com and a familiarization trip to Mazatlan.

Course graduates will earn continuing education credits from the Travel Institute toward the Certified Travel Counselor program. Graduates will also receive a diploma, pin and display card for their offices.

They will also have ongoing, on-demand access at the site's "interactive campus" section to downloadable electronic versions of key full-color sales materials, ready to email to or print for clients.

The Mazatlan Hotel Association is also using the new program to further its new "Mazatlan: For Travelers, Not Tourists" promotional campaign. A consumer lead-generation program is planned for next year.
