Memphis to host 'Eternal Egypt' exhibition

MEMPHIS -- Nearly 200 ancient Egyptian objects from London's British Museum will be on display at the Pyramid here June 28 through Oct. 21.

The exhibition, "Eternal Egypt: Masterworks of Ancient Art from the British Museum," is one of the American Bus Association's Top 100 events for 2001.

It will feature artifacts dating from 3100 B.C. to the fourth century, including possessions of the pharaohs, funeral objects, statues and jewelry. Many of these items will be on display in the U.S. for the first time.

The exhibition is presented by Wonders: The Memphis International Cultural series, a nonprofit institution that has produced exhibitions here that included "Titanic" in 1997.

Admission is $14 for adults; $13 for ages 60 and older; $10 for college students and military, and $6 for ages 5 to 7. Discounted rates are available for groups of 20 or more.

"Eternal Egypt" will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., with last admission at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
