Mexico Boutique Hotels adds three properties

PUERTO VALLARTA -- Mexico Boutique Hotels, the association of small Mexican inns based here, recently added three hotels to its collection.

The additions bring the total number of properties in the group to 30 in more than 20 destinations.

Membership in the association is by invitation once a hotel has been identified and reviewed. Properties are judged based on such attributes as level of service, cuisine and amenities.

The following is a look at the latest additions:

• Secreto on Isla Mujeres. Situated on a secluded cove in the area of Punta Norte, Secreto offers nine suites surrounded by tropical gardens.

The property was designed to resemble a modern beach house with contemporary artwork and furnishings.

Tropical gardens also surround the hotel's swimming pool, and each of the nine suites features an unobstructed view of Halfmoon Beach and the Caribbean from private verandas.

The resort is close to popular Playa Norte and is only a few blocks from Isla Mujeres' center.

Rates start at $100 per night, double, including continental breakfast.

• Casa Turquesa in Cancun. Designed to resemble a Mediterranean mansion, the property features 33 suites, each with a private terrace overlooking the Caribbean.

Although situated in the hotel zone beside Kukulkan Plaza, Casa Turquesa has the distinction of a private beach.

Facilities include a swimming pool, restaurant, tennis court, fitness center and art gallery. Rates start at $190 per night, double.

• Las Alamandas. Located midway between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, Las Alamandas features 14 suites that accommodate a maximum of 28 guests.

Lodgings are situated in six low-rise buildings that include oceanfront, oceanview and garden suites, along with two- and three-bedroom villas. Facilities include three restaurants, a bar with large-screen TV, a swimming pool, tennis court and fitness center.

Rates start at $320 per night, double, including horseback riding.
