Mexico City hotels cut rates for holiday season

MEXICO CITY -- In an effort to increase business, more than 60 of Mexico City's hotels will lower their rates by as much as 60% during the holiday season. The participating hotels include every price category, ranging from budget accommodations to luxury properties.

The reduced rates will be available throughout December, and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from Jan. 1 to 13. Rates at several of the capital's upscale hotels, including the Fiesta Americana Grand Chapultepec and the Sheraton Maria Isabel, will start at $130. Four-star properties such as the Colon Mision Reforma and Holiday Inn Zocalo will charge $91. At the Mision Zona Rosa, prices drop to $49.

All rates are per night, based on single or double occupancy. Prices do not include tax. For more information, call (877) 650-8017 or visit the Web site at www.hotelesenmexico.com.mx.

In addition, properties such as the five-star Galeria Plaza Hotel are offering their own holiday packages. From Dec. 15 to Jan. 6, clients who stay a minimum of two nights can stay in a deluxe room for $100 per night, single or double. Tax is extra.

Children ages 12 and younger can stay for free in the same room. A breakfast buffet is complimentary for adults and half-price for children. For reservations, call (888) 559-4329 or visit www.brisas.com.
