Miami CVB proclaims city is 'Open for Business'

MIAMI -- The Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau launched a $300,000 advertising campaign called Miami, Open for Business, designed to counter concerns about the hurricanes of late summer.

The campaign will consist of 15- and 30-second TV commercials featuring singer Gloria Estefan and NBA star Schaquille ONeal, who plays for the Miami Heat, saying, Theres no place like Miami. The commercials will air in the destinations major markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Atlanta.

According to Rolando Aedo, vice president of marketing of the Miami CVB, the commercials will be distilled from a two and a half minute video produced by Estefans husband Emilio Estefan.

We just want to get the word out that Miami is unscathed, and we are very thankful. And we are open for business, said Aedo.
