MoaTrek offers 3 New Zealand motorcoach itineraries

AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- A company called MoaTrek New Zealand is offering three motorcoach tours aimed at 40- to 60-year-old gourmets and wine connoisseurs.

Using 17-passenger motorcoaches, MoaTrek offers a 13-night Decidedly Different Islands tour, a six-night Decidedly Southern tour and a five-night Taste Temptations tour.

All breakfasts are included on the tours as are some wine tastings, attraction admissions and accommodations.

  • The Decidedly Different Islands tour starts in Auckland and ends in Christchurch and costs about $1,530 per person, double.
  • The tour offers city and countryside sightseeing, visits to hot springs, wine tastings, boat rides, museum visits, whale-watching excursions and some lunches and dinners.

    Some of the areas visited include Waitomo, Napier, Martinborough, Queen Charlotte Sound, Kaikoura, Lake Pukaki, Clyde, Milford Sound and Franz Josef.

  • The Decidedly Southern tour begins and ends in Christchurch and features visits to Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook National Park. There are also stops at Kawarau Gorge, Arrowtown, Milford Sound, Lake Wakatipu and Franz Josef.
  • The rate is about $818 per person, double.

  • The Taste Temptations tour, which is priced from about $1.589 per person, double, visits the wine regions of Hawkes Bay, Martinborough and Marlborough.
  • The tour includes some meals and wine-tasting events.

    The Decidedly Different Islands and Decidedly Southern tours require a minimum of nine participants to operate, and a maximum of 17. The Taste Temptations tour requires a minimum of eight participants and a maximum of 16.
