Mondavi, Puck pull out of California Adventure

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Robert Mondavi Corp. and Wolfgang Puck Food Co., citing disappointing results, both pulled out of California Adventure, the seven-month old theme park that opened next to Disneyland.

Mondavi will no longer operate Golden Vine Winery, although the Mondavi name will remain on the attraction. It will be operated by Walt Disney Co., said a Disney spokesman.

Wolfgang Puck's Avalon Cove, a 350-seat restaurant in the Paradise Pier section of the park, closed Monday and will be replaced by an as-yet-undetermined, Disney-run restaurant, said the spokesman.

He added that attendance at Disneyland and California Adventure "took a predictable downturn" after Sept. 11 "and is on a rebound, but not at the same levels" as before the attacks. Disney does not release attendance figures.
