Montserrat volcano erupts

SALEM, Montserrat -- Montserrat's newly active Soufriere Hills volcano shot a thundering ash cloud six miles high on March 20.

The explosion sent a new coat of ash over parts of the island's northern "safe zone" where residents have been living since the volcano began erupting in 1995. Scientists predict more activity in the weeks ahead.
