N.C. gallery serves up china

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -Through March 26, the Gallery at Old Salem here will be showcasing Set and Joan Momjian's collection of presidential china.

Each president who had an official china service is represented in the collection, which is the largest set of presidential china outside of the White House. This exhibit is the first major display of the more than 1,000 pieces of china collected.

The exhibit, "The Pleasure of Your Company: Presidential China 1789-1999," features place settings, stemware and place cards from the White House china collection, as well as samples from Air Force One and the presidential yacht, Sequoia.

Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The gallery is closed Nov. 25 and Dec. 24 and 25.

Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children. Groups of 14 or more are entitled to discounted rates.

Admission is included with the Old Salem All-in-One ticket, an Old Salem Town Visit or a Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts admission ticket.
