NEGRIL, Jamaica -- Swept Away's new array of health and fitness
options enables agents to sell the resort as both a sports and spa
experience as well as a "sun, sand and sea" vacation, said Lee
Issa, chairman of Issa Hotels and Resorts. "We are like two
holidays in one, and that's how agents can sell it," he said.
Swept Away's programming, which includes the latest trends in
health and fitness, a 10-acre sports and fitness complex,
distinguishes it from other inclusives, Issa said. "We don't have a
summer camp atmosphere with the distractions of other inclusives.
We leave people on their own, give them information about what is
available and let them participate in what they want."
New fitness classes include boxing instruction and basketball
clinics. Golf month in November was added to the roster of
monthlong specialty programs and will feature lessons with
professionals and daily clinics. Throughout the year,
complimentary, unlimited golf is offered 10 minutes away at the
Negril Hills Golf Club, an 18-hole, par-72 course. Transportation
to and from the course is included.
Tennis month is scheduled for October, and wellness month in
September will address stress management, nutrition, exercise and
weight management. Holistic nurses will join the fitness staff to
hold seminars and workshops on such topics as hands-on healing and
biofeedback. Scuba month, in August, has programs for participants
of all levels. Certified divers can dive twice daily; night dives,
underwater photography and reef preservation seminars are
Swept Away has expanded its dining menu to include at least one
spa dish per course at each of the resort's three restaurants. New
treatments at the Oasis Spa & Salon include aromatherapy
facials and massages, prenatal massages and couples baths, in which
guests can relax in herbal, mineral or aromatherapy baths. Wedding
spa packages are available, and if guests want martinis and cigars,
they are available, as well. "We offer top-brand liquor and cigars
and a different cabaret every night," Issa said.
An incentive for agents is that Swept Away does not discount,
enabling agents to earn commission on the total price. Instead of
discounting, Swept Away offers added-value incentives for consumers
that do not lessen commissions, Issa said. For example, stays of
six nights or more May 1 through Dec. 22 include free roundtrip air
transfers between Montego Bay and Negril on Air Jamaica Express and
$200 in "Swept Away dollars" per couple. Swept Away dollars,
equivalent to U.S. dollars, are honored in the resort's gift shop
as well as for tours and spa services.
Prices for a seven-night stay start at $3,332 per couple until
March 31 and from $3,150, April 1 through Dec. 23.
