New Orleans literary event set for March

NEW ORLEANS -- The 15th annual Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival will be held here March 28 through April 1.

The event will include more than two dozen panel discussions, a book fair, literary walking tours, a one-act play competition and a Tennessee Williams scholars conference.

Participating writers include Philip Caputo, Michael Cunningham, Mary Gordon, Wally Lamb and Barry Unsworth.

Among others participating will be stage and screen stars Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson; film critic Rex Reed, and Dakin Williams, Tennessee's brother.

Theater offerings will include performances of Williams' play "Tiger Tail," which resulted in the 1956 movie "Baby Doll," starring Carroll Baker, Karl Malden and Wallach.

Most events will be at Le Petit Theater du Vieux Carre, the festival's headquarters.
