NEW YORK -- Hoping to boost sagging restaurant sales, the city is
expanding its annual Winter Restaurant Week promotion from one week
to two and including lunch and dinner for a fixed price.
The promotion will run Jan. 28 to Feb. 8, excluding Feb. 2 and
3. More than 150 of the city's restaurants will offer $20.02
prix-fixe lunches and $30.02 prix-fixe dinners.
The dinner component was added as part of a special promotion
last October designed to pump up business following the attacks of
Sept. 11. As a result of that effort, participating restaurants
reported an increase of 39% in dinner receipts.
Although most restaurants will offer both the $20.02 lunches and
$30.02 dinners, some will offer only the prix-fixe lunch.
Restaurants began accepting reservations Jan. 7.
Customers can visit the city's tourism Web site, www.nycvisit.com, for
a list of participating restaurants.
