New encounters at Honolulu's Sea Life Park

HONOLULU -- Sea Life Park launched two encounter programs.

The Sea Trek program enables visitors to walk on the bottom of a 300,000-gallon fish tank, and the Stingray Encounter gets guests in the water with stingrays.

Sea Trek guests get to feed the fish and take pictures while in the tank.

Guests breathe by wearing a helmet that has surface air pumped into it. Wetsuits are and gloves provided; a scuba certificate is not needed.

In the tank there are sharks, sea turtles and reef fish.

Dressing rooms, lockers, hot showers and even disposable underwear are available -- for those who forget their bathing suits.

Sea Trek costs $89 per person and is available to guests older than age 12.

Priced at $49, the Stingray Encounter enables guests to snorkel in a waist-high cement lagoon full of stingrays.

Participants must be at least 40 inches tall. Guests must bring a swimsuit for this attraction, and the encounter is limited to six people in a group.

Sea Life Park is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
