Norwegian Coastal trims rates

NEW YORK -- Norwegian Coastal Voyage cut prices for six air-sea programs departing from Aug. 16 to 31.

The line reduced rates for outside cabins on two 15-day trips -- Discover Norway at $3,715 and Grand Norway at $3,800. The rates were previously $4,100 and $4,210, respectively.

There is a savings of $100 to $120 for standard outside cabins on the line's 11- and 12-day itineraries.

The company also offers a senior savings of $90 to $220 per person for guests ages 67 and older on all departures after July 15.

In addition, AARP members are eligible for a year-round discount of $100 per cabin on northbound and southbound air-sea packages and $150 on the roundtrip program.

A Norwegian Coastal Voyage vessel sails along Norway's coast.The 11- to 15-day air-sea programs combine a one-way or roundtrip Norwegian Coastal Voyage with transatlantic flights from New York. Also covered are hotels, breakfast daily in Oslo and Bergen and a Bergen-Oslo train trip.

The Discover Norway itinerary, gives participants extra time to explore Trondheim, Norway's first capital, as well as Oslo and Bergen. Rates range from $2,745 to $4,100 per person, double.

Grand Norway, a roundtrip program from Bergen, spends one more day at sea and less time in Trondheim and Bergen. The cost ranges from $2,660 to $4,210.

The line's 11-day Highlights of Norway program is priced from $2,450 to $3,480.

The itinerary features a seven-day northbound cruise; a train journey from Oslo to Bergen; one night in Bergen, and a flight from Kirkenes to Oslo.

The 11-day Norwegian Holiday, based on a six-day southbound voyage, adds an overnight in Kirkenes, two nights in Oslo, one in Bergen and the rail trip. The rate ranges from $2,345 to $3,240.

A 12-day Scandinavian Sojourn combines Finland and Norway with visits to Helsinki and Finnish Lapland before the south-bound voyage.

The package, which costs from $2,410 to $3,340, can be extended with a daytrip to Tallinn, Estonia.

Iceland is paired with Norway on the Scandinavian Sampler, priced from $2,485 to $3,515.

It is a 13-day program that combines a southbound sailing with Reykjavik, Iceland; Oslo, and a Bergen-Oslo train journey.

The line also dropped prices on its shore excursions by 25%.
