HENDERSON, Nev. -- The Las Vegas area soon will have another
luxurious property to pamper guests. This one, however, will be a
few miles off the Strip. The 350-room Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas
Resort & Spa will open in November as part of MonteLago
Village, a 1,370-acre, $500 million resort and mixed-use
development scheduled to open by the end of the year. The complex
will be situated on the north shore of Lake Las Vegas, about 17
miles north of the Strip.
In addition to the $170 million resort, the development will
include a 40,000-square-foot casino, a golf course, luxury
condominiums, office space, shops, restaurants and pedestrian
promenades. The resort's architecture is reminiscent of a
Mediterranean palazzo, with details such as vine-covered trellises
and balconies, balustrades, shaded loggias and ornate bridges in a
gardenlike setting with water fountains.
As part of the hotel, a Florentine-style bridge will span 375
feet across the lake's inner harbor. It will feature 67 rooms plus
a pedestrian promenade and shops. The other 283 rooms in the main
hotel will include 46 suites. The hotel will feature a
30,000-square-foot spa, a fitness center and two heated swimming
pools. For information, call (800) 241-3333 or visit www.ritzcarlton.com.
