HAWAII KAI -- A sampling of Hawaii Kai ocean sports firms and the activities and packages they offer shows the wide choice clients have here.

A listing follows:

* A Reef Adventure. Koko Marina Shopping Center. Visitors pilot their own "glass-bottom" Wild Thing Reef Explorer boat, each equipped with an eight-horsepower engine and holding up to four people.

One-hour outings with escort boats in Maunalua Bay are offered three times daily, the first at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $49 (children ages 5 to 12, $28.50).

Packages available include this activity with one other for $89 and with two others for $119 (choice of jet ski, power boat or snorkeling at nearby Hanauma Bay).

The firm also began a Waikiki operation last fall.

* Aloha Ocean Sports. Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. The firm offers 30-minute jet ski rides on single-seat Yamaha and two-seat Kawasaki Wave-

Runner jet skis.

Under state law, riders must be 15 years old; the firm restricts the two-seat jet ski rider to 18 and over.

The price is $35 ($8 for a passenger on a two-seater).

Also offered are jet skis and two other activities for $99.

* Big Sky/Hawaii Kai Parasail. At both of the above-mentioned shopping centers. Big Sky has its own parasail and power boat operations and also packages scuba and jet skiing.

All are $45 each with transportation; the firm also offers two activities for $70, three for $99.

The firm is planning Fantasy Island, an activity barge featuring kayaks, snorkeling equipment and air mattresses as well as other water equipment.

* Divers' Island. Koko Marina Shopping Center. Company operates scuba from a dive vessel anchored in Maunalua Bay, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and snorkeling tours.

The price for a one-tank dive is $55; a two-tank dive is $80, including equipment.

Transportation can be arranged and included in the price.

The firm can handle groups of up to 25.

Snorkeling tours are priced at $25 off the scuba boat and $30 at Hanauma Bay and include transportation from Waikiki.

* EMW Power Boats. Koko Marina Shopping Center.

The firm has vans and a six-passenger "cigarette" speed boat that can travel 65 mph.

Two 35-minute speed boat excursions are offered; each costs $49 and includes roundtrip transportation from Waikiki.

One trip travels west to Diamond Head, the other heads east to Sandy Beach.

Charters are $250 an hour.

EMW also offers its own activity plus two others (parasailing, jet skiing, waterskiing or scuba) for $99.

Also offered are escorted snorkeling tours to Hanauma Bay with transportation, priced at $30, including snorkeling equipment; a Hanauma snorkel-Sea Life Park combination package for $45; an evening package, with a drive up Mount Tantalus to view Honolulu's lights; a power boat ride, and dinner at the Marina Grill at Koko Marina for $99.

* Get Wet Hawaii. Koko Marina Shopping Center. The firm packages and markets activities and has its own transportation, with any three activities for $98, including transportation, or $45 per activity.

Activities include scuba, jet skis, parasailing and bumper-tube riding.

* Sea Breeze Water Sports. Koko Marina Shopping Center.

Sea Breeze has its own transportation and power boat, jet ski, and parasailing operations, each at $49 per person, plus its own transportation.

Sea Breeze also packages scuba and water skiing, with its own activities; three activities for $99.

It also has Fun Island, an activity barge, with kayaks, trampoline, slide, boogie boards and other sports, for $39.95 (four hours).

The price per boat for water skiing is $49 for one or two people for 30 minutes, $98 for up to four people for one hour.

* South Pacific Water Sports. Hawaii Kai Shopping Center.

The firm has vans and offers two packages: a Jet Ski-Hanauma snorkeling package, with pick up in Waikiki at 8 a.m. and return at 3 p.m., weekdays only. It begins with jet skiing, followed by three hours of snorkeling at Hanauma, for $60.

Also featured is a Sea Life Park-Hanauma plan, including Sea Life admission, for $45.

* Snuba of Oahu. Hawaii Kai Shopping Center.

Snuba is a patented system, a cross between scuba and snorkeling, with participants attached to a breathing cord and diving to 10 to 15 feet.

It is part of the firm's Maunalua Bay Activities Club aboard the firm's floating barge, operating daily except Sundays.

The activity includes lunch, 30 minutes of snuba, jet skiing and the use of such equipment as snorkeling gear.

It operates daily except Sundays and costs $87.36, including pick up in Waikiki at 8 a.m and return around 3 p.m.

Snuba of Hawaii also offers its activity at Waikiki, Keehi Lagoon and Koolina in West Oahu.
